Simone de Beauvoir: Ada Lovelace Day, The Weekend Edition

Yes, I know that Ada Lovelace day was Tuesday, March 24.  I know what I was going to write about, I just didn't have words in me the past few days.  I had known who I was going to choose a while ago.

Technology is defined by Webster: a manner of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge.

I am not going to defend my choice.  Simone de Beauvoir accomplished the task of establishing her thought and mind among the crowd of men, which is no easy task.  She stood with Sartre and Algren as peer and contemporary, not as student or associate

So I apologize for not writing this on the day itself.  I think today, March 28, 2009 is a better day to remember her and acknowledge her reach.  I mean, it is Nelson Algren's 100th birthday today, and I would rather write about her.

Spiro Agnew Speaks Out - Side A

A classic from my parent's collection.  I don't know if it was something one of my parents listened to or if it was just collected and never listened to.  I listened to it.  Yeesh.  Anyways, here it is.  Remember, I was the one who did the Abe - Obama morph in February 2007, thus inspiring Obama's deep respect for Lincoln's legacy.  I am on the political cutting edge.

The Return Of The Mewl

What had become of me.  I am back, o glorious droogs.  I didn't mean to be gone so long.  I never wanted to give up on The Mewl, I just lost focus on what to post.  That and I was just trying to be a laser and finish school.  Yes I graduated, and have slightly matriculated.  So while I will always be adding more odd audio nuggets for you to download and enjoy, I also am going to make this site oriented more towards things I create and the process that it involves.

I have my degree in Film/Video: 3D Animation and I have devoted myself to being some bit of creative talent in the world, and together we will suffer through my inevitable 'Clown Painting' phase a'la Red Skelton.

So, yes, I am back, and I look forward to adding more and more content.  I will probably be reposting some older stuff because I am going to be switching hosts fully soon, and I don't want to lose any continuity when I lose that storage space.

So come back next week for new posts, beginning with side A of "Spiro Agnew Speaks Out".  Be prepared for quite a bit of music.  I literally found 150 records in the garbage a couple years ago.  Amongst them are quite a few jazz gems that are not available commercially.

Ok ok ok ok.  I know I have been horribly horribly horribly silent here at The Mewl.  It's just been a crazy winter what with a new relationship and moving on to a new phase in my life.  It's been a fun little ride that keeps on going. 

I'm glad the Superbowl Shuffle got a lot of attention the past few weeks.  Too bad it stopped.  Oh well.

Anyways, I promise more content!  I do I do I do.  Why?  Cuz sping is in the air again!

This is from the Vincent Price cookbook.  I'm not sure what restaurant it is from.  It is under the chapter for Fernand Point's Restaurant de la Pyramide but might be from the Reserve named in the desert title.  I dunno.  I claim ignorance.  Nice OCR texty version after the jump.

So my dad has Multiple Sclerosis and doesn't fight it enough.  Granted I'm not in his head so I don't know, but I know that the human spirit has more fight in it that he has shown.  Disease is different than accident so I can't compare anything to Thomas Cook, whom until a few minutes ago I hadn't known existed.  The link above goes to his obit.  Read it all there or after the jump here.  Testament to bad luck, the human spirit, and modern rehabilitative medicine and the modern world that supports it.

I love watching this.  It makes me laugh everytime
