Hi All! I got busy! I was working on some secret stuff all of May and June which shouldn't have been secret at all. I kinda took a small break from 3D and did some stuff in Adobe and After Effects. Did loads of editing in Sony Vegas. I love to edit. Learned a lot of new stuff. Seems like I am learning more now that I am not in school. Sometimes just getting school done gets in the way of learning. Anyways, here is what I am working on now: The Cobra Hiss!!! One of the most impractical tanks, yet one of my favorite toys. More after the jump.
I got the Blueprint off of Yo Joe. This is my first time working from a blueprint. Took a couple minnits to get my legs, but eventually I got a workflow that worked for me. All polys, gonna convert to sub d. I coulda made the gun a little more low res. Maybe I will change that. This is just the beginning of the model. Still have to finish a little bit of detail. Ok, a lot of detail. But that's the fun stuff. I might take a break from this model to finish up some others. All stuff that is gonna go on the updated object reel. I have a few things I am finishing up the UV mapping on and then I am gonna paint some textures. I am having a lot of fun with the new challenges that modelling something new gives me. And I am also gonna have to do some animating soon. Anyways, more ideas for the updated reel.
Without further depardeau, I give you an early version of the Cobra Hiss modelled from the 1984 toy. Modeled in Maya. I'd love to know what you think.
Guns are finished here. First attempt at the body. This is intentionally very smooth and plasticy.
A little detail of the console. This isn't found on the toy, just something I threw in there for added interest.
I fixed the edge that is a little too shiny. This isn't smoothed out yet. And there is a lot of detail left to put in.
Front view of where I am at now with early stages of treads. Gotta love that sub surface scattering. Sorry about the dodgy lighting.
Looking forward to finishing this! It's coming out better than I had hoped.
