Pat Suzuki - How High The Moon (5 Meg .mp3)
Some of you might remember this song from the opening scene of Biloxi Blues that starred Matthew Broderick and Chris Walken. He's my uncle so I can call him Chris (ed: we have no idea what he is talking about).
Oddly this version wasn't recorded until 1953 or so, long after the world war WWII. It's my favorite version of the song, as so many other singers give it a nice rollicking beat. Not here. This is one of the laziest musical rolls that could be given this song. It's slow, and that's how it should be. All other versions of this song somehow sound wrong after Pat Suzuki's approach.
I used to have this posted up on Montesol.org, which I removed, but someone wrote me earlier this year looking for a copy for their parent's 50th anniversary. I didn't get the email until months later, and I never replied to her, so I hope this somehow finds her. I'm gonna have to see if I still have that email.

i've been looking for this... couldnt find it anywhere...there's no soundtrack available.. there's no legal downloads anywhere... glad to be able to find this here!!

I just wanted to thank you for making this audio track available to us. I have looked from Amazon to RCA to the smallest used album stores in Haight Ashbury to find a recording of this version of 'How High the Moon'. I have been unsuccesful. Biloxi Blues is one of my favorite Neil Simon writes. I think you have done all the fans of this play and film a great service. Thanks again

Oh my! I've been looking for this version of the song for years! There are literally almost 1000 recordings of this song since it was written in the 40's. And yes, to me this is the definitive recording of the song (with all due respect to the versions popularized by Les Paul and even Ella Fitzgerald). It has mesmorized me since hearing it in Biloxi Blues. Thank you!

I can't tell you how great this is that you have this haunting song posted. I was 25 years old when I watched Biloxi Blues in 1988 aside from loving the movie I took that song as one of my favorites. One of those rare songs that no human is immune to feeling a personal memory when lyrics and music meet their ear. I've heard many adaptations but not one matches this as the way the song must be sung.
Thank you

I thought I was the only one in the world looking for this version of "How High the Moon", and now I've found it. Is there anyway someone could e-mail me a copy, as I'd love to be able to play it on my stereo. Thank you for posting this!

I've been looking for this song for years as well. Thank you very much for posting it. My fiance and I are planning on dancing to it for our "first dance" during our wedding reception. I believe that only Pat Suzuki sings it at the appropriate time and sentimental tone that the song was intended. So once again, thank you very much for posting it.

Ditto to all. I've also searched for this version for years, and had almost given up hope. My mission is now over.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I have been looking for this recording since I saw Biloxi Blues back in 1988! Almost 20 years of a search ended today! I love this version & it is perfection! Have you heard Mel Torme's version? It is done at the same easy tempo & includes the very seldom heard verse, it comes a very close second to this definitive performance! If any body wants to hear Mel Torme's recording email me at vincedp@hotmail.com
